The brand began with Misty and Ace, two greyhounds who left a lasting impact on Portia’s life. Their stories reflect both the challenges many greyhounds face and the resilience they carry with them.
Misty’s early life was uncertain, and like many retired racing greyhounds, she had little exposure to life beyond the track. Simple things, light, movement, and human interaction, were unfamiliar at first. With time, patience, and consistency, she began to settle, gradually finding comfort in a safe and stable home. Her journey is a quiet reminder of how adaptable these dogs can be when given the opportunity.
Ace’s experience was more complex. By the time he was rescued, the effects of racing had already impacted his health. Despite this, his time in a home environment showed the same gentle nature greyhounds are known for. Even in a short time, he left a lasting impression, one that continues to influence the direction and purpose of the brand.
These experiences form the foundation of Furever Greys.
They highlight the importance of responsible care, education, and ongoing support for greyhounds transitioning into life beyond racing. Through the brand, there is a continued commitment to supporting rescue organisations, raising awareness, and contributing in a meaningful way to the wellbeing of these dogs.
